Guatemala Medical Team 2012

Our Missions Council is excited to announce that 16 people are heading to Chiquimula, Guatemala to provide medical and dental care. The team consists of 3 dentists, a dental hygienist, 2 physicians, a nurse and 4 pharmacists.  They will be working with IMB partners, Larry and Sarah Plyer and David and Glynis Miller. They’ll be working with an Unreached People Group, the Chorti people. This people group is classified as “Unreached” because less than 2% of the people have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Life for the Chorti is very hard because of their poverty and the difficult environment in which they live. Because of years of poor land management and cutting of trees, much of the land has eroded and is not suitable for growing food. One of the main causes of death is malnutrition and the complications it brings to health.

Please keep our team in your prayers during this time leading up to and during their trip. They will be gone from February 11-18th.  We are having a commissioning service for the team on Sunday, February 5th.  There are numerous instances in the scriptures where Jesus met a physical health need enabling Him to share a spiritual truth. Our team hopes to do the same, while meeting the medical needs of these villagers; we hope to share spiritual truths about our Lord Jesus Christ.
