“Now this I know: the Lord gives victory to His annointed. He answers him from His heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of His right hand. Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm. Lord, give victory to the King! Answer us when we call!” –Psalm 20:6-9
This country has proven to be a battleground so far. It’s easy to understand why: there are literally billions of people searching and fighting for something eternal to hold on to, something to make sense of this life. We visited a Hindu temple yesterday where the presence of spiritual darkness was literally tangible and heavy. I and others on the team struggled to remain in prayer while inside, and a few even felt physical pain. The powers of darkness are ridiculously real. It was a struggle for me to simply repeat the Lord’s name in there. But we know we are capable of doing damage with the Lord’s help or we wouldn’t be getting everything the enemy’s got thrown at us. “For God has not given us a sprit of fearfulness, but one of power, love, and sound judgement.” –2 Timothy 1:7
We know that the victory is ours and that the power in us is much greater than the powers of this country. Psalm 18:45-46 says, “They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds. The Lord lives! Praise be to my Rock! Exalted be God my Savior!” We have nothing to offer of our own, but the Lord gives us a power unimaginable. We have seen some of the worst the enemy has got, but we have prevailed. In the process, my pride has been smashed as I have been forced into constant prayer, reliance, and trust in the Lord. It has been incredible to find my rest in the Lord and my power to go on the offensive. I wish ya’ll could see how real the power of these demons and “gods” are that these people give their lives to. Being inside the temple was truly something to break your heart for these people, who give everything they possibly can to prove to these demons that they should be brought back in a better state. It’s a combination of moralism and demonic worship, and luckily Jesus has broken them both. The finality of the cross is becoming much more real to me, as much as my own faith.
The only way we can keep pushing the fight forward is with a unity of believers in prayer. Prayer is incredibly powerful I am learning and is the means that the Lord pushes back the darkness, so please pray with all you’ve got! Pray against the darkness and the power that these so-called “gods” have in their strongholds, and that the powers of heaven would tear them down and make them flee. Many people we came into contact with had never heard the name of Jesus. This should not be so; pray that God would call many to the harvest which is so ready to be had here. Finally, pray against fear for our team. For many, it was the first, but for all it was the strongest time we have felt the presence of evil. Pray that we would fight it with no fear and not simply be buried underneath it. Know that we love you a lot.
Much love,
–Wesley
