Guatemala Vision Team

On September 22-27th we will be sending a Vision Team to Guatemala to begin a new partnership. For several years we have taken teams to serve in Guatemala. However, for the past couple years our Mission Council has felt led by God to begin focusing our Global partnerships primarily on Unreached Unengaged People Groups (UUPG’s). UUPG’s are defined as people groups in which less than 2% of the population are Christian and where no believer or evangelical church is currently on the ground that speak the language of the people.

Last February, as we were preparing to send a Medical Team, we were told we’d be working with a new missionary couple, David & Glynis. This couple contacted us via email and shared their heart with us. They shared how they felt the Lord had called them to work with UUPG’s and that our Medical Team would be helping them begin work among one of these UUPG’s. The people group are called the Chorti. As we read their email, we were stunned. It was amazing to see months of prayer be answered. As our Medical Team spent time with David & Glynis we were convinced that this was the couple the Lord was calling us to partner with. By the end of our time with them, David & Glynis had asked us to partner with them over the next 3-5 years to reach the Chorti people.

Please pray for our Vision Team that will be leaving in about 3 weeks. Pray the Lord will make our prayers effective as we walk among the Chorti. Pray for the two Guatemala pastors & their churches we will be partnering with. And join us as we pray that by the end of 3-5 years there will be a healthy, self-sustaining, indigenous church among this people group.
