The Brazil Team is leaving Saturday, November 21, 2015 for Salinopolis, Brazil. The Team members are Jennifer Lively, Jo Gafford, Dave Gowdown and the Team is led by Liz Eckbreth. After two days of travel we will arrive at our hotel in Salinopolis , which is located in Northeastern Brazil just below the equator and not far from where the Amazon River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Our return home will be Sunday, November 29.
This Team will be serving missionary families as they have a Cluster Meeting, which is a meeting for training and fellowship among IMB missionaries in this region. The Team’s specific purpose is to conduct a Bible School of sorts for the 24 children of the missionaries during their morning sessions. These sessions will be Tuesday through Friday of Thanksgiving week. Also the Team will be fellowshipping with and supporting these missionaries during that week and watching the children in the evenings to allow “date nights” for their moms and dads.
The kiddos have been divided into 3 age groups. The kids 4 and older will have daily Bible lessons, crafts, snacks, and other activities. After lunch we will have recreational activities with the kids. All of our teaching time with the kids is to show the love of Jesus for each one of us.
Would you please pray for the Team for safe travel to and from Brazil and in country, but also that the Team would be effective in our time with the kids, that we will connect quickly with them, and that we would boldly teach the Gospel. Also pray for these missionaries as they go through their training and have a time of rest and relaxation with their families while they are briefly away from their individual mission fields. Pray also that the Team will be a blessing and a support for these families during this week. Thanks for your prayer support!
I am reminded of what the Apostle Paul wrote in Philippians 1 verses 3-6: “I thank God in all remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.” We all can be “partners in the gospel” with our missionaries. Pray for them and us.
This blog will be updated daily so please follow our activities as we minister in Brazil.
